LRTimelapse 3 not opening or crashing - devman - 2014-02-02
Hi guys,
Just got a new machine and upgraded to LRTimelapse 3... now I try to open it and I get the little video sequence that it is opening and then that closes and then nothing - no program loading and can't see a program loaded in my task manager either. The export options have installed correctly into LR 5 though - just can't get into the timelapse program.
I am running Windows 8.1 64bit...
Any thoughts? Is this a Java thing?

Please make sure to uninstall all other java instances before. Then install the 64bit java from here:
http://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp
This should get you going. If not, please send me the log file, you'll find it under:
C:\Users\<your username>\AppData\Roaming\LRTimelapse\LRTimelapse.log

Hi - I uninstalled and reinstalled Java Version 7 Update 51 (build 1.7.0_51-b13) and then ran it again and it still just plays the opening video and then disappears.
I sent you the log file so hope that helps!

Initially I had almost exactly the same problem as devman (win 8.1 64bit Toshiba laptop with i7 64 bit processor) - but in my case there was no log-file in the location mentioned! Now I'm trying to reinstall and am getting a succession of error messages which say that LRTimelapse.exe is "using resources that need to be updated by Setup" and when I opt for Automatically close the Application" it doesn't work and there is no guidance as to how, or what, to close manually. So I'm stuck and need advice...

You have to uninstall all other java instances and install the 64bit Java from here: http://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp
I did a couple of tests with Win 8.1/64 and the latest Java 1.7.0_51 on a freshly installed system and could not experience any problems.

Hi, thanks for speedy response! I had already done what you suggest and when I look in "Control Panel > Uninstall or Change a Progam" I only see "Java Version 7 Update 51". Should I uninstall this and try to start again?

Yes, you could try it. Make sure to install the 64bit version!
