Beginner camera question - panorama - 2014-07-23

Just starting time lapse
With 5d cameras is anyone shooting in silent mode or is it all normal shots and if so is shutter wear a big issue?
Also having just looked at Yosemite sequence is it important to use a 5dMK3 as opposed to a mk2 which I already have.
Thanks in advance and apologies for basic question just about to start testing.

Shutter wear isn't a big problem - especially for pro camera models.
If you can, use the silent mode. But you don't need to.
MK3 will certainly deliver mor ISO power for Night Shots, but I'd rather recommend a 6D then, because it delivers even better performance in that area. It's my preferred camera for night shots.

Thanks for that's great to know.

Any idea if the normal battery's last long enough for a sequence?

It depends how long the sequence is ;-)

It will certainly last for a couple of hundred images. But if you want to shoot the whole night long, I'd suggest an external power adapter.
