The RAW Files of my camera are not supported / I don't see a preview - Gunther - 2011-04-04

UPDATE: As of version 1.6 of LRTimelapse nearly all cameras are supported via ExifTool. Please install it as described at http://lrtimelapse/install

Thank you!

---------------------

LRTimelapse will basicly work with any RAW files Lightroom supports. For some Filetypes however it's not able to read the preview images because this depends on the java library jrawio: http://jrawio.rawdarkroom.org/supported-cameras/

You can however work without previews and make transitions and so on. Only deflicker will not work, because it depends on the previews.

This however is no reason not to use LRTimelapse -

I would recommend a two step workflow:
  1. Make all transitions, here you need the depth of the RAW files.
  2. Export a JPG with maximum compressionrate like explained here: http://forum.lrtimelapse.com/Thread-how-to-deflicker-time-lapse-2-pass-advanced-workflow
  3. Deflicker the JPGs
This should give even superior results than a one pass only RAW based workflow.

hi gwegner,as you say lrtimelapse can't read my sony arw files, but i noticed that it's not only deflickering that doesn't work on arw files but also gradient tool,if i fix everything in lightroom and export to lrtimelapse and hit linear transation the only thing faded is exposure, maybe i do something wrong??....here is my workflow..import all files in lightroom fix all parameters and save metadata then open lrtimelapse and load all the files then make a linear transition to fade all parameters but it fades only the exposure...if i do that with jpegs everything works, all parameters are faded includes gradient......

Please install ExifTool as described in the INSTALL section, that should get you going!

I assume you are doing something wrong. Please follow my workflow exactly (described in the workflows section on lrtimelapse.com) you could turn off the checkbox "hide unchanged properties" to see all columns in the table.

I am getting this issue as well and having a hard time correcting it. I initially opened and adjusted my images in LR4 and then opened LRT. Read your instructions and tried to re-edit my initial image in LR4 to original import to see if it would view properly in LRT but it did not. I have installed Exiftool as instructed but not exactly sure what to do with it. I have put it both in my Windows folder AND on my desktop. When I start LRT I still get the window prompting me to download it but I did. I have restarted my computer a few times and still nothing.

Any help is appreciated.

Michael

exiftool.exe goes into: C:\Program Files (x86)\LRTimelapse

(rename exiftool(-k).exe to exiftool.exe and copy it there)
