How to cope with vignetting - Simon Plat - 2015-11-03
Hi,
during a recent time-lapse of a sunset in the holy grail method I changed my aperture from f/7.1 to f/4. Apparently that caused some vignetting in the photos. The holy grail wizard and deflicker corrected Ok for the change in aperture but due to the vignetting the lighter parts of the f/4 sequence are a tiny bit lighter so there is not only a vignetting visible in the sequens starting from the f/4 photos but also a small step in luminance in that holy grail step.
Is there a way to compensate for this, either in LRTimelapse or in Lightroom? I tried to crop the sequence a bit so the vignetting was less obvious but that didn't change much. I tried the vignetting tool in Lightroom but that seems not to show in LRTimelapse. And without a deflickering the sequence compensated for that vignetting I will not loose the small luminance step.
It is an interesting sequence so I am willing to put some effort in it!

For sequences like this I apply the Auto Lens Correction to all keyframes, this normally gets rid of the vignetting.

Thanks Gunther, would you advise to do this before starting with LRTimelapse, during the proces or at the end, just before the export and rendering?

That doesn't matter. Normally I just apply it to the first keyframe, it will then be carried over when using the sync script to migrate to the next keyframes and later populated to the whole system via the auto transitions.
