Intervalometer cable hack - how should I test to see if it is necessary? - GBakker - 2016-08-25 Regarding the need for the cable hack on an intervalometer, how should I test it to see if I need to do the cable re-wiring? Camera: Sony A6300, set on manual focus. Intervalometer: Vello Shutterboss version II (http://www.vellogear.com/shutterboss-version-ii-timer-remote-switch-for-sony-multi-terminal) I just bought this intervalometer and tried to determine if I needed to hack the cable (per http://lrtimelapse.com/news/intervalometer-hack/). I hooked it up to my camera, set the interval to 1 second and had it automatically shoot 10 RAW image captures. I had no problems. All 10 images were captured. I could not perceive any "autofocus" pausing. Is there some other method I should try? For example, should I try 30 image captures (in case the buffer issue needs more "pressure")? 50? The A6300 does not have a LCD buffer indicator as the camera used in Gunther's link. Or, could I assume that if 10 shots at 1 second intervals did not cause a problem, then I don't need to re-wire the cable? Regards, RE: Intervalometer cable hack - how should I test to see if it is necessary? - Gunther - 2016-08-25 I've explained how to check it in the video embedded in this article: http://lrtimelapse.com/news/intervalometer-hack/ If everything works for you, there might be no need for the hack. I didn't think to check to LCD screen to ensure that the preview was being displayed. Mainly because I had preview turned off (which is my usual setting). Regards, |
