What happens during file import? - DaxThink - 2016-10-09

Trying to determine my own file workflow, and at what stage I need backups.
What exactly happens to the images when they are imported? Are they modified in any way?
Thanks

Importing in LRTimelapse will normally just copy the files and generate the previews (in a hidden subfolder).
If you coose the option to convert to DNG, of course the files will get copied and converted.

Is there a way to avoid copying the files on import?

I imported them from the card via Adobe Bridge (because there were multiple projects with different dates on one card, and Bridge automatically created folders according to date), and they are in the folder, ready to go.

The LRTimelapse importer is optional. If you already imported the photos to your harddrive just select the folder on the LRTimelapse main screen in the folder tree on the left.
