Cannot export from Lightroom - stars - 2016-11-24

Hi Gunther,

I have up to date LRT 4.7.3 running on Mac OS X 10.10.5.

I suddenly cannot export LRT sequence at all.
I get this error message from LR after I complete the LRT screen and after LR has successfully checked aspect ratio etc..

Error creating directory:
/Users/XXXXXXX/Desktop/20 Nov/LRT

Please check the file LRTExport.log in your documents folder.

Here is the contents of the log file after two or three attempts.

The correct aspect ratio is width: 4608, height: 3456 if this is relevant.

RE: Cannot export from Lightroom - Gunther - 2016-11-24

Please make sure that /Users/XXXXXXX/Desktop/20 Nov/LRT is a directory that can be created, check that the disk is not full, the directory is writeable etc. The message says, that Lightroom cannot creat that directory for any reason. It could be blocked by another application too...

Some more things to consider:
Please make sure that you are exporting from the folder where the images are located. So before exporting, right click on on of the images of that time lapse sequence, then "Go to folder in Library".
Now open the Lightroom export dialog.
On the left, in the LRTimelapse section click on "LRT (JPG, 4k)".
Now make sure to set an output folder, that is writeable at "Output folder" on the right side.
Leave the "Name of the sequence" alone, it should be names like your original folder.
Now click on export.

RE: Cannot export from Lightroom - stars - 2016-11-24

I have reloaded Adobe DNG converter.
I have restarted the machine.
There is space on the disc.

Apps now running are LR and Safari only.

Have 'gone to folder in library' in LR, as usual. Export dialogue is for JPG, 4k and I have not changed 'name of sequence'

when I click on export, produces the same error from LR.

Hmmm ??

this the latest.
I note again that the width and height do not correspond with the images, no idea if this is relevant

RE: Cannot export from Lightroom - Gunther - 2016-11-25

I'm pretty sure that this is no general problem with the exporter.
I find it a bit strange that the sequence is called “100Olymp“, probably not a good idea, since there might be other folders names the same and ending up in the same output folder overwriting each other.
I'd try to rename the original folder and then export again.
I would consider naming each Timelapse folder with a meaningful name.

RE: Cannot export from Lightroom - stars - 2016-11-25

I have used that folder name for temporary imports many times.

However I have closed the folder and images in LR, renamed the folder as 'renamed' and reopened the new folder in LR.

I have reimported the images, gone to folder, then export.

I get exactly the same error from LR.

RE: Cannot export from Lightroom - stars - 2016-11-25

By the way, many thanks for your responsiveness, which is very highly appreciated.

However I am not pressed for a solution tonight, if you prefer to sleep on it.

RE: Cannot export from Lightroom - stars - 2016-11-25

An idea,

I am going to download a copy of LRT to a second Apple machine here and try the same folder of images.
I trust this OK with you

RE: Cannot export from Lightroom - Gunther - 2016-11-25

Yes, it must be something on your machine, maybe a restart could help too. I've never had a report like that yet, I'm running out of ideas, I fear...

RE: Cannot export from Lightroom - stars - 2016-11-25

Gunther,

Problem is resolved to a degree.

On the second machine, with the same images and same folder names etc,  the export is happily underway. No error message.

That is to say the problem lies within the first machine and is nothing to do with a bug in LRT, I believe.

I propose to therefore to reload LR and LRT and then to try again tomorrow.

I will keep you up to speed with progress.

Many thanks once again
