Wiring the 2N2222A transistor - Dave W - 2017-08-05

Sorry for such a basic question but I was hoping for some assistance with wiring the 2N2222A transistor. I have no experience with circuit diagrams or electrical parts.

The 2N2222A transistor has 3 wires coming out of it. Does it matter which wire from the 2N2222A transistor gets soldered to the resistor, the yellow and black wires coming from the 2.5mm TRS jack? I can't tell from the instructions or pictures.

Yes, of course it matters... :-)
The middle contact goes to the resistor. You can see it on this image:

Thanks for the clarification. Much appreciated.
Of the other two wires coming out of the transistor, doe it matter which is attached to the yellow and black wire coming off the jack?

Yes, of course. Just align the transistor as you can see in the image. Orientation is the flat side on the right.

You have to be careful about the transistor pinout. Even the plastic version of the 2N2222 has two different pinouts available depending on the exact part number, as described here:

Hi all,
I've just finished the lrtimelapse and I'm now playing a bit with a couple of npn transistor: 2n2222a and bc337 ...they should be equivalent but I don't get any signal in output.
Since I'm still waiting for the shutter cable I'm just checking the emitter and collector with a small oscilloscope but the impulse is not visible..I've already double checked the schematics and seems ok. Also I can see the signal at the base pin.
Do It need maybe some sort of dummy load in order to work correctly without the camera connected?

UPDATE: I've received the jst cable and is not working Sad any suggestion about how I can troubleshoot the issue?

What exactly is not working? Only the shutter release? Please double check the wiring. I've added a new diagram from one user to the project page.

As I cautioned above, the BC337 and some versions of the 2N2222A have a different pinout than what's shown on the project page. Pins 1 and 3 (the collector and emitter) are reversed. Try swapping the wires to the two outside pins of the transistor.

And in that diagram the transistor is wired differently than your original photo (collector and emitter are swapped).
