WiFi link from D800 to QDSLRdashboard

Offline

I saw a post about using the QDSLRdashboard and LRTimelapse to create flicker free automated timlapse. Looks great so I acquired the app for my iPad. However I realise now the D800 does not have built in WiFi to connect with the app.
The Nikon WT-4 wifi add-on is rather expensive, so now I am wondering what to do. Has anyone been using the dashboard with LRTimelapse and a D800? Any advise or feedback?

You can use the TP-Link router to enable WiFi for your D800. It's the best and cheapest solution. It's all explained here:

Thanks. There are two versions it seems.
TP-LINK TL-MR3040 Portable Battery Powered 3G/4G Wireless N CABLE Router
or
TP-LINK TL MR3040 Wi-Fi Router
Do you know which is recommended?
And do I need any additional cables to connect this unit to the D800?
