M3 Macbook pro vs M2 Macbook pro, which to get?

Ok, I'm considering upgrading from my M1 Mac Mini to a Macbook Pro. Just not sure if to go for an M2, or M3.

The chief issue with my M1 Mac Mini is that 16GB of RAM was the maximum I could get, and it has been very limiting (especially when working and rendering from AfterEffects). I'm not unhappy with its speed (though more is always better!).

So I'm looking at a Macbook Pro, and I'm wondering if the M3 gives enough advantage with LRT to justify the price of a new machine (vs. a used/refurbished M2 Macbook Pro). I'd be considering the Max versions of each, 32GB of RAM, and 1TB SSD.

Can anyone offer any insights? JPEG rendering I understand is noticeably faster with the M3 (but enough to justify the price? Not sure).

Many thanks in advance for any help,

Chas

As far as know, general understanding is that the MacBook Pro 14 M1 Max with a decent configuration is still the winner in price performance ratio. I have one and I'm not planning to upgrade to m2 or m3 anytime soon. There is loads of info on Youtube, if you want details and benchmarks.

Also check out Marques videos, who also sent his M3 back and is staying with the MBP M1 Max.
