Connecting a Canon 5D Mark II to a phone - help

Offline
#1 Julian Elliott
Hi there

I'd like to be able to control my Canon 5D Mark II by using an app on my phone. I know of the DSLR Dashboard and also DSLR Controller but I can't get either to work!

This morning, I bought the following adaptor: http://www.boulanger.com/ref/276654

I have a USB cable to Micro USB to go into my phone but no joy whatsoever.

My phone is a Sony XPeria E4G.

Is there a setting I am missing somewhere on the phone/ camera?

Outside of this, what other options are there? I know of the Promote Control but I'd prefer not to go that route right now. But what else is there?

Thanks for all help!

You need a proper USB OTG Connector and then you should check if OTG is supported on your phone.
It's all described here: http://lrtimelapse.com/gear/dslrdashboard/

Morning Gunther

So what is the difference between the OTG that I got and the one on the link you provided?

And how do I find out if OTG is supported by my phone?

I don't know, if you adapter works. There is a link in the article to the "OTG Troubleshooter" App, that you should use to figure out, if OTG is supported.
