External encoder error when rendering video

Offline
#1 lightatwork
Hi Gunther,

I installed LRT 4 Pro today and wanted to do some test runs. I followed the standard workflow with export from Lightroom CC. After exporting the Raw-files to full-size Jpegs, I selected the settings for the LRT Renderer. After clicking the "Render Video" button, I get an error message saying:

The external encoder returned an error.
Please check the log file (info/log) for details.

I've tried different render settings, but that makes no difference. All the indicators for 64 bit, ExifTool, FFMpeg and DNGConv in the top-right corner are green, so appear to be ok? By the way, I'm on a mac running OS X 10.8.5.

Please find the relevant part of the log file below:

Any idea what might cause this?

I could only imagine that some other software have overwritten the ffmpeg encoder and replaced with an older / other version.
Please try installing LRTimelapse again, then try rendering again (don't need to export from Lightroom, just open the render dialog in LRTimelapse and select the LRT_ intermediary sequence and try again.

I got this last night too, with LRT 6.5.5 build 902.
I still had the Mac Disk image, so I did try the re-install.. but no good.

This was 3 in morning after I had gone to bed and left it to its 2500 frame render job. Woke to look at the result to see error.

Was wondering about the encoder being overwritten or changed between 6.5.2 and the new 6.5.5

Will put old files back with Mac Time Machine and see what happens…

Yes,
Restore of the ffmpg encoder from Time machine worked.

Glad everything is up and running now, but I'd always prefer a clean install via the LRTimelapse installer than a restore from a backup.
It might be a good to restart the computer (to make sure that no background processes are stuck and still running) and then do a clean install of LRTimelapse.
