GoPro .GPR files very slow to initialise

Hey Gunther,

Just flagging that initialising .GPR files is very slow compared to other RAW files (screen recordings attached).
I've allocated 20GB for LRT and am on Catalina 10.15.6 with 64GB RAM and i9 8 core 2.4GHZ macbook pro.

.GPR initialising screen recording: https://gfycat.com/assuredquarterlyiguana
.RW2 initialising (for reference): https://gfycat.com/achingjitterydaddylonglegs

Tried to rename the extensions to .DNG which didn't change anything speed wise (spotted that in an older thread).

Not a huge deal but when I started working on them I thought there was a bug or something, so thought I'd investigate and then just realised it's the GoPro files themselves.

Cheers,
Matt

Yes, GPR files are not "real" Raw files and they don't contain any preview. That's why the initialization is much slower than with "real" raw files, which contain an emedded preview. But besides that, a GoPro is not the recommended tool for ambitious timelapse photography, I'd recommending using a dslr or mirrorless camera.
