I hope I saw this the first time I used lrtimelapse and Lightroom, because those wired light shifts did occur in some previous work I did.

quick question;
how the color grading panel will affect the development of timelapse images (highlights, shadows, midtones)?

As with the other tools there is no do or don't here. Just try it on your sequence. As a general rule of thumb I'd recommend to not exaggerate any of the tools.
