"Lightroom has encountered problems reading this photo" persists after update 5.5.4.

Needed to revert back to version 5.4 after the latest update 5.5.4 seemed to somehow corrupt the xmp files.

I'm using the latest Lightroom 10.0 on a mac and the previous release 5.5.3 worked just fine.

After the 5.5.4 update all the sequences I edited gave the error "Lightroom has encountered problems reading this photo" for every single photo. Nothing helped (reboot, removing catalog previews file, reseting all lrtimelapse edits) except reverting back to the older version (and reseting edits).

Has someone else encountered this?

I've been struggling with the same problem today. The problem is with my files from Canon (.cr2). I have no problems with files from Sigma fp- or DxO One-cameras (DNG-files). Version 5.5.3 is working OK for all files.
In the end I uninstalled v 5.5.3 completely (via CleanMyMac X), and installed a "clean" version of 5.5.4. At the moment it's working OK, but I´ll have to test it further.....
Removing files from Lightroom and synchronising did not help for me.

I did try it with multiple sequences and did not work, I do not dare to update to 5.5.4 anymore, but appreciate the link to 5.5.3 - thanks!

LRTimelapse 5.5.5 fixes this issue, see:
https://lrtimelapse.com/news/lrtimelapse-5-5-5/

The final version can now be downloaded on the download page.
https://lrtimelapse.com/download/

Please remove any sequence from Lightroom that shows the black exclamation marks then load it into LRTimelapse 5.5.5 and force saving via Shift+Save. Then Drag to Lightroom to reimport it.
