trying to load the templates and video into Lightroom 4.1, errors out, says the templates are in the wrong format.

They do not show up in the user templates.

just updated to LR4.1 with the same result. The slideshow templates show up but the video presets do not. when trying to import the files "wrong type' message is displayed.

I will try it with LR v 3 and see if the templates show up. WIll append result here..

I assume you haven't followed the installation instructions.
Don't import the Templates from inside Lightroom!!

sorry for the confusion
i extracted the templates from the zip file as shown in the instructions.
i tried the import as a last resort when they did not show up in LR.
the video preset files are in the proper directory but they do not show up in LR. the slideshow presets DO show up in LR.

i forgot to mention, both sets of presets showed up just fine in 4.0 following the instructions.

Something must be wrong with your setup. All templates work without problems with Lightroom 4.1 for the other users and for me. Please note that the video presets appear in the video export dialog.

ok, i have been looking at this all wrong.
i was expecting to see something under user presets when in Develop (kind of like in your Holy Grail tutorial).
that's where i went wrong. i see them where they are supposed to be now.
