Downtown Nashville Traffic Timelapse Troubleshooting

Offline
#1 NeedForReed
Hi, everyone.

Here is the clip I'm trying to troubleshoot. Mainly looking for strategies in reducing flicker in the sky. The luminance is jumping around quite a bit due to the headlights coming straight at me. Trying to figure out if I could've done anything differently.

Canon 5D MK IV.
70-200mm 2.8 L IS II.
2.8 aperture / 100 ISO / .5 second exposure / 1 second interval
2.5m - Infinity. Manual Focus. Stabilizer Off.
Controlled with Satechi Intervalometer.
Mounted on Manfrotto Tripod w/ geared head.
Processed with Adobe Lightroom and LRTimelapse.
397 images / 30 FPS
Shot on a bridge. Some slight wobble in some shots.

I selected the top left corner of the image for the Visual Deflicker. Set smoothing to 40, Accuracy to Default, and used 5 passes.

Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

FWiW, a year and a half later...

It looks like your time lapse is a a time of day where the exposure shouldn't need to change? If you shoot in M mode there shouldn't be any flicker except for headlights?

I see some buildings in the background whose lights change intensity which looks like flickering but probably isn't. My guess is the other "flicker" is lens flare from the headlights. Not sure if you can do anything about it.
