Losing a folder is a first for me after many, many years of computing...I am a competent IT user.
This is the time-lapse I opened and its parent folder with 4-5 other projects

M1 Mac
LRTimelapse 6.0.1 (2022-03-05) Build 781
Sequence of events:
Opened a sequence
clicked 'save'
clicked the x to cancel save
clicked another timelapse
Do you want to save xmp data? Yes
Program finished saving (2 operations, the progress bar flickered between the two.
Waste bin is empty
Run recovery on disk, checked and appears OK

I am running a recovery program on the SSD to recover files

I find it very unlikely that LRTimelapse deleted your files. LRTimelapse works on metadata only and unless, you explicitly tell it to delete files (and actively confirm), it won't delete any original files.
Please double check your folders, maybe those files are still there.

If you didn't restart LRTimelapse yet, please send me the log file (info menu).

Update: files recovered.
Drive corruption error, nothing to do with LRT.
