The update can be done with battery (only it should be charged)
There is no need to setup the original TP-Link firmware.
You probably downloaded the file earlier as the 0.12 version was uploaded February 18 and the name is ddserver_openwrt-tl-mr3040-v2-squashfs-factory_0.12.bin

Anyway the downloaded firmware should also worked.
You didn't post a capture that I asked in my previous post ('details' button)

You can try to access the MR3040 in failsafe mode, follow the instructions here:
http://wiki.openwrt.org/toh/tp-link/tl-mr3040
(scroll down a bit or search for failsafe)
and if you mange to get into failsafe then you could follow this: http://wiki.openwrt.org/doc/howto/generi...lsafe.mode

In the telnet terminal enter
firstboot

Sorry, I could not send you the screenshot, I've already exchanged the router.
The installation with the new one was no problem. I made every step just like before, and this time it worked.
So I assume the old router was faulty in the first place. But thanks for your help anyway!

But now I have a problem connecting via DSLR Dashboard, but therefore I will open a specific thread.

Hi,

I have nearly the same problem.

I ordered two ML-3040 (one for a friend) and did exactly the same steps. One is now working very well - many thanks for your job - but the other doesn't work. I flashed the firmware, changed the IP-Adress and the gateway address but I have no access to the web server-interface of the 3040. The funny thing is: I can ping it (with 192.168.1.1) and I have also access via Telnet (also 192.168.1.1).

Is there any chance to flash back to the original firmware or to load another OpenWRT version to see if this will fix my problem?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Hallo,

Aseger:

You only have access to telnet? Do you get the OpenWRT greeting when you connect with telent? Can you open the OpenWRT web page at http://192.168.1.1?

>> flashed the firmware, changed the IP-Adress and the gateway address
what you mean by this? to what address did you change the IP ? So initially you had access to OpenWRT web administration page to change the IP?
