Dealing with large amount of files

Hey guys,

I've got a question that I couldn't find directly answered.

I am currently working on a time-lapse that has 12.000 pictures in it. I was working with LR3, but recently purchased LR4 and loving it. Loading all the pictures is not a problem in LR4, however when I try to load the directory in LRTimelapse it takes for ever to create the previews.

I am running LRTimelapse an iMac i7 16GB RAM.

Is there a way / workflow to speed up this process?

Thanks,
Paul

Thank you for the reply. Just came across that post as well.

In my case we are dealing with a 90 day event. (so not 3 days). Shrinking down to much in files would not be a good idea here.

I already sized down the preview size of the JPEG to 300x200

My Mac had 8MB of free RAM left... when its processing the previous.
