Night to day (Holy Grail) exposure jumps

Offline

Hi Gunther,
thanks for your awesome work.

I stayed up all night yesterday to shoot a holy grail timelapse of the sunrise. Camera in manual mode, 7 exposure changes (Holy Grail keyframes) over 1:30 hours.

After following the workflow, even after deflickering (smooth: 20, strength: 20), there are still exposure jumps. Check out the video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OfRVX3xw4kQ

Where have I done wrong? Is it in post-processing (reference area, deflicker, etc.)? Or in my technique, i.e. too few exposure changes (7)?

Let me know, if you have the time!

Cheers,
Alex

Looks like you let it over expose the sky before you adjusted. Once the frame is overexposed there is no way to recover the data. So you get a jump.

Please leave the deflicker off for holy grail sequences since there is no flicker in your sequence.
