Hi, I went thru the forums to figure out the problem but still have issues.

I have done the following:
1) installed and re-installed DNG both new version (12.3) and previous version (12.2)
2) Confirmed the correct location of DNG and it's green top right
3) I have Cleared all LRTimlapse Editing several times
4) i lowered the threads from 28 to 18. (any time i try to go lower then 18 it doesn't allow me, it keeps going back to 18)
5) i have also started the whole process from the very beginning even deleting lrt folders, xmp files etc...

In the meantime i'm going to change the timeout to 90 and sees if that improves things.

Ok, some of those previews are obviously timing out so that they don't get created.
Most likely your external drive cannot deliver the images fast enough for the amount of threads that you defined.
You say, you could not lower them to less then 18, that should be possible. Just make sure to restart LRTimelapse after you change something in the settings.
You can also continue with the visual preview generation where you left off. Just close LRT, then restart it and activate the VP creating once again. It will try again to do the previews that are not yet finished.

I'd recommend to move the sequence to a faster internal SSD for processing, you will save much time. You can move it back to the external drive after finishing your processing.
Another way would be to lower the amount of parallel threads even more and check that no Virus Scanner is interferring. Whitelisting LRTimelapse and the Adobe DNG Converter in your scanner might improve performance signifiantly.

Hi Thank you. transferring to a SSD will be the next option and future process going forward but I started over and changed my timeout to 90. It worked but as luck would have it, the power in my neighborhood went out in the middle of the the Visual Deflicker process so I have to re-run Visual Previews and Visual Deflicker again. I'm hoping it will process faster the 2nd time based on your comment above.

Question, is it possible to just run Visual Previews for specific frames? for instance, I have 3 frames that had the error "WARN: Error loading visual preview for: 180720184524.ARW tried 1 times."

Can i simply run the visual preview just on those 3?

This will happen automatically, once you turn off visual previews and turn them on again. Lrt will always try to complete them, if there are some missing.

sorry to be a PITA but I know it's been updated if the "Visual Lum" column is updated for that particular frame? if not, how do I know if a particular frame has been or needs to be updated?

I have same problem. I cant see visual preview, only scroll it. Cant go forward to visual deflicker, render to video etc. Im stuck. I did visual preview twice, waited two hours. My project has stopped here..

It appears from my experience and based on feedback from Gunther that my Holy Grail Timelapse which is over 8k RAW images each image around 42mb each ends up requiring me to process it from a SSD drive, in addition change the "Number of threads for Visual Preview Creation" from 28 to 18 and increase the "Timeout for Visual Previews (sec.) from 30 to 90 from the Settings -> Expert Setting menu.

One caveat is that I did not move this project to an SSD yet but did change the other settings and it worked for me. In the future I will always be processing from a SSD so the other settings might change once I do.

In addition there are steps desrcibed int he forums...

1) Ensure that you have the latest version of DNG
2) Make sure the DNG is correct in the Settings -> External Tools path
3) If you do get error and it stops or doesn't let you go further. I would recommend based on my experience to start the whole process over and delete the lrt folder and XMP files and begin again of course after all the above has been satisfied.

@oliver: you know it from the visual Lum column. Also you will see if there is a vp when you select it.

Thanks, I'll try in next one. Somehow I managed to export it from lightroom via Lrtimelapse plugin, after that render window didnt show so I had to export from folder where it made jpgs and open straight in Final Cut. Dont know why it didnt open render window, any idea?
