I'm new to time lapse and I was wondering if LrTimelapse can control my camera via USB (master/slave) with different settings or is it only for already-taken-image-seq editing? If not, does anybody know of such software available (I've heard the word "tethering" somewhere...) I'm going to use a laptop as battery- and hard drive source.

LRTimelapse does not control any camera, it's a software for time lapse processing.
Check out http://dslrdashboard.info - that migh be what you are looking for. Another option would be to teather your camera to Lightroom. Depending on what you want to do.
